Kids like us are always being profiled for crime, and kids like us never get treated like kids. We aren’t afforded the opportunity to have our parents called before we are apprehended, or a lawyer present before we are interrogated. We don’t get the luxury to just hang out without the suspicion of doing something wrong. We are assumed to be up to no good just for being in certain spaces, even if we had the freedom and right to be there.
